¿Qué es el Déficit Presupuestario Federal (National Deficit)?
Cuando los gastos del gobierno federal exceden sus ingresos, existe una situación deficitaria llamada Déficit Federal.
Este monto se calcula durante el período o año fiscal del gobierno (Fiscal Year or FY), el cual va desde el 1 de Octubre de un año hasta el 30 de Septiembre del siguiente año.
Por ejemplo en el año fiscal 2024 (10/01/23 al 09/30/24) el gobierno federal de los Estados Unidos gastó $6.75 trillones y tuvo ingresos por un total de $4.92 trillones. La diferencia entre estas dos cantidades es $1.83 trillones lo cual representa el Déficit Federal presupuestario del gobierno.
Lo opuesto a un déficit de presupuesto es un superávit presupuestario.
